As much sun as possible (at least 6 hours) for optimal flowering, this is not a plant to hide in the shade. This can be sun coming through a north-facing window, or direct sun outside.
Portulaca enjoy well draining, rocky and sandy soils that dry out quickly. Once the soil is completely dry, water them deeply.
Portulaca are annuals, so do not need much fertiliser. Fertilising too much can actually hinder flower development. Feed once in spring with a balanced organic fertiliser.
Growing Portulaca in a pot or hanging basket is a great way to enjoy their trailing habit. They rarely need to be re-potted, but a good top up of succulent mix will help keep them growing vigorously.
Deadhead spent flowers to keep them blooming.
Mexican Rose is a succulent flowering plant in the family Portulacaceae. It is native to Argentina, Brazil and Mexico
