Ficus benghalensis

Our baby Ficus Audrey is the new Fig in town, giving her cousin, the Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata), a run for its money. Audrey is easier to care for than the Fiddle Leaf, tolerating a bit more neglect and is less likely to lose leaves in winter. Her grey stem and velvety dark leaves make a striking combination as she matures into a fine indoor plant.

Comes in a 14cm plastic grow pot. Decorative pot sold separately

Caring for Audrey

Bright filtered light. Audrey enjoys basking in direct morning light and is really afraid of the dark, so keep her away from bleak corners and let her shine.

Water & humidity

Water 1-2 times per week in summer & once a week in winter. Wait for the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between watering. Audrey doesn't mind drying out a bit & is highly forgiving of the sometimes forgetful plant parent.

Monthly in summer with a balanced organic fertiliser. Reduce feeding if you don't want your Ficus to grow too big too quickly.

Every 1-2 years in spring. Or when the roots start to grow through the bottom of the grow pot. Fast-draining potting soil will do.

Atrium Top Tip

Ficus are vigorous growers. If you're worried about it getting too big you can trim the roots by about 20 percent when re-potting. Don't do this in the middle of a hot summer, early autumn or spring is best.

Quirky plant fact

Ficus Audrey, or Bengal Fig, is the national plant of India, growing up to 20m tall in its native habitat.
