Fresh and fun!

Apart from their sunny disposition, Gerberas pack a punch! NASA discovered that in 24 hours, this flower removed half of the airborne formaldehyde, 67% of benzene and 35% of trichloroethylene from the air. Gaby is also a proudly South African plant, home grown, and flowers throughout summer. Treat her right and she'll reward you with flowers again the next season.

Comes in a 16cm nursery pot. Decorative pots sold separately

Caring for Gaby

Light

Gerberas need as much light as possible to flower and should be placed close to an east or north facing window. There are varieties that grow outside, but be careful of putting your indoor Gerbera into direct sun as they'll need time to adjust.

Water & humidity

Gerberas don't like to be waterlogged. Wait until the soil dries 2-3cm down before watering again.

Feeding

Producing all those bright flowers means Gerberas need nutrients. Feed monthly in summer with a balanced organic fertiliser.

Re-potting

Re-pot if necessary every 1-2 years using a well draining indoor potting mix. Re-pot with fresh nutrient-rich soil in Spring to encourage blooming in summer.

Atrium Top Tip

Once your Gerbera flower has died, cut the stem at the base of the plant. This encourages new flowers to form.

Quirky plant fact

The flower head, which has the appearance of a single flower, is actually composed of hundreds of individual flowers. It is the 5th most cut flower in the world. Gerberas are also excellent for helping you sleep. Unlike other flowers, they continue to release oxygen at night.
