With his heart shaped leaves decorated with swirls of cream & lime, Brasil will steal your heart in no time. Philodendron 'Brasil' is similar to our Phoebe (variegated Philodendron scandens), but with smaller delicate leaves. Brasil is pretty easy going and happiest just letting it all hang out.

Comes in a 20cm hanging grow pot. Hook can be un-clipped. Decorative pots and plant hangers sold separately.
As sweet as she looks, Phoebe can be harmful to animals & small children if ingested in large quantities.

Flat shipping rates apply per order (add more plants & pay the same on shipping). Gauteng R79, Western Cape R89. Rest of South Africa R119 (Except Limpopo, Mpumalanga & Northern Cape R149).

Caring for Brasil

Light

Brasil can adapt to most light situations except direct sunlight. If he's in too dark a spot the leaves will loose their vibrant colour and the plant will develop leggy stems with fewer leaves.

Water & humidity

Originating from the Caribbean, Philodendron Brasil loves moist tropical conditions best, but adapts well to normal household conditions. Water when the top 2-3cm of soil is dry before watering again. This plant doesn't like to have constantly wet feet. Leaves that suddenly turn yellow and fall out is a sign of overwatering. You can spritz the leaves with water to raise humidity if you notice them developing brown crispy edges.

Feeding

Brasil is a fast grower and should be fed monthly with organic fertiliser. Don't feed in winter.

Re-potting

When the roots start pushing above the pot or pushing through the drainage holes, or the leaves keep dropping/yellowing it's time to consider re-potting. This plant likes well draining potting soil mixed with a handful of succulent mix. You can also add some of our Hemp Super Soil.

Atrium Top Tip

Yellow looking leaves could indicate over-watering. Brown shrivelled leaves signal under-watering. Brasil is easy to propagate. Just cut off a strong looking stem and pop into water until it roots. A rooting hormone can increase chances of success, but is not usually necessary.

Quirky plant fact

The word Philodendron literally means 'love tree' in Greek.
