Just jammin'

Originating from the Caribbean, Rojo is super chilled, demanding very little in the way of attention. He just likes to sit back and show off his strikingly large leaves. The Philodendron Congo comes in comes in two dazzling colours, imperial green, or burgundy with leaves that are spectacular red when emerging, darkening to almost black.

Grow pot width: 20cm. Decorative pot sold separately.

Caring for Rojo

Light

Can grow anywhere - except in direct sun. Suitable for lower light conditions.

Water & humidity

Water weekly, letting it drain out the bottom of the grow pot. Allow the top 50% of soil to dry out between watering. Rojo's not too phased about humidity.

Feeding

Once every two months in summer with our BonsaiBoost Canola Meal sachets. Do not feed in winter.

Re-potting

Re-pot every 2 years if necessary to one pot size up. These plants like being root bound. Normal potting soil will do.

Atrium Top Tip

Too much water will cause the leaves to turn yellow. Too little water will cause the leaves to turn brown and fall off.

Plant fact

Philodendron is a member of the Araceae (Arum) family and originates from the Caribbean, Colombia and Venezuela. Rojo Congo is named after its red leaves - 'rojo' meaning red in Spanish.
