Originating from the high mountains of Bolivia, Cleistocactus strausii can grow up to 3m tall in the wild, and can withstand temperatures of -10°C. If grown outside it will benefit from afternoon shade. On older plants, dark burgundy flowers appear in late summer. Click here for cactus care tips.
Beware - the silvery needles may look soft & pretty, but will stick in your skin like fibreglass. Keep out of reach from children and pets. Use gloves, or wrap newspaper around the spines when handling.
Available in San Remo planter, or without (comes in 15cm grow pot).
