Caring for Sophia

Light

Sophia likes to dance in bright indirect light indoors. She'll also enjoy a sheltered position on the patio with some morning light.

Water & humidity

Water every 1-2 weeks, letting the water drain out the bottom. Allow the top 50% of soil dry out between watering. Overwatering is the quickest way to bring Sophia's dancing career to an end. Sophia's not too phased about humidity, but she doesn't like it when her curls frizz.

Feeding

Feed once every two months in summer, if necessary. Never feed in winter.

Re-potting

Re-pot every two years if necessary. Philodendron's like being root bound.

Atrium Top Tip

If the leaves turn yellow it's a sign of overwatering. If the leaves turn brown and fall off it's a sign of too little water.

Quirky plant fact

In it's wild habitat, subterranean roots can grow 60 feet long.
