This alien looking, fly attracting plant is indigenous to South Africa and other parts of Africa where it's hot and dry, and there are no bees. Stapeliads adapted to produce pretty funky smelling flowers to attract flies that pollinate them. To humans, though, the furry bright flowers are enjoyed for their size and beauty! They flower throughout Summer and into Autumn, producing either red or creamy blooms. TIP: Keep this plant in a sunny spot on the balcony or it may stink your house out.
