Place Bobby in indirect, bright light for best results. Not enough light will dull the vibrant colours.
Water 1-2 times per week in summer. Bromeliads are air plants, absorbing moisture from the air around them, therefore they will benefit from higher humidity levels. They also absorb water from the cup formed where the leaves meet in the centre of the plant.
Once in summer and halve the recommended dose. Too much fertiliser can cause the colours to fade
As air plants, Bromeliads rarely need re-potting. They prefer to be in smaller pots. If necessary, only use a specialty bromeliad potting mix, or one with good aeration like an orchid mix.
To prevent overwatering the roots, place some water into the cup formed by the centre leaflets, which will absorb the moisture. However, be sure to empty the cup periodically to prevent the heart of the plant from rotting.
Bromeliads produces 'pups', or baby bromeliads, which grow from the base of her stem and can be split and replanted.
