Bright filtered light. They enjoy some direct morning light. Don't keep Fidel in a dark corner or he'll just look sad.
The trick with Ficus lyrata is not to overwater. Water only when the top 4-5cm of soil is dry. Then water deeply so that water runs out the drainage holes of your grow pot. This plant does not like to be consistently moist. Don't let the plant sit in water. Drooping leaves signal underwatering. Leaves that are turning brown or black is a sign your plant is getting too much water & could be rotting. Fidel's not to fussy about humidity, and normal room conditions will do.
Monthly in summer. Reduce feeding if you don't want your Ficus to grow too big too quickly.
Every 1-2 years in spring. Or when the roots start to grow through the bottom of the grow pot. Fast-draining potting soil will do.
If you want your Ficus to start branching out (and stop growing straight up as a single stem), cut the main stem where you want it to branch. This will cause the plant to fork at this point.
The Fiddle Leaf Fig got its name from its violin shaped leaves. In its natural habitat it can grow 15m tall!
