Bright filtered light. They do not like too much direct light or the leaves will turn crispy. If grown outdoors place in shade.
Keep the plant slightly moist in summer, letting the top layer of soil dry out in winter. Don't let the plant sit in water. Leaves that are turning black means your plant is getting too much water & could be rotting. It is normal for some of the leaves close to the soil to die as they get crowded out by new growth, which blocks the light from getting to the understory leaves.
Monthly in summer. Reduce feeding if you don't want your Ficus to grow too quickly. It can become rampant.
Every 1-2 years in spring. Or when the roots start to grow through the bottom of the grow pot. Fast-draining potting soil will do.
Prune in spring to keep the plant looking compact and bushy. Its also easy to propagate by placing stem cuttings in water. You can add new cuttings to the plant to keep it looking fresh, or start a new plant when the older one starts to decline or gets 'sticky'.
There are many species of creeping Fig, originating from East Asia, where they are often used as a landscape plant for their vigorous growth.
