Being a succulent, the Milk Tree requires plenty of sunshine. If growing indoors make sure it's by a bright window.
Never over-water your Milk Tree. Wait for the soil to dry out between watering (every week to 10 days). Rather under-water this plant. Reduce watering in winter to every couple of weeks. It's used to dry climates so humidity is not an issue.
Feed once a month with Canola Meal sachets. Don't feed in winter.
You can re-pot every summer if you want a bigger plant. Only use a succulent mix, or a mixture of 3 parts perlite, one part peat moss for good drainage.
Want more African Milk Trees? Propagate by taking a cutting of one of the branches at the base of the stem. Note: The white sap is poisonous so use gloves! Simply rinse the base of your cutting in water and place in moist cactus mix. Some people use a rooting hormone. Keep the soil fairly moist until the cutting has taken root.
The African Milk Tree originates from Western & Central Africa. In the wild it blooms with white flowers and grows three metres high. The white sap is a skin irritant and should not be ingested.
