The Fiddle Leaf fig is a wonderful indoor plant because it's easy to grow, looks exotic and has extra large leaves. The triple stems makes this size extra bushy and lush in appearance.

Comes in a 35cm nursery pot. Baskets & pots sold separately. Plant is approx 95cm from the floor. Available Gauteng only.

Caring for Fidel

Light

Bright filtered light. They enjoy some direct morning light. Don't keep Fidel in a dark corner or he'll just look sad.

Water & humidity

The trick with Ficus lyrata is not to overwater. Water this plant only when the top third of soil is dry (around every week in summer to every 2 weeks in winter). Then water deeply so that water runs out the drainage holes of your grow pot. This plant does not like to be consistently moist or sit in water. Drooping leaves signal underwatering. Leaves that are turning brown or black is a sign your plant is getting too much water & could be rotting. Fidel's not to fussy about humidity, and normal room conditions will do.

Feeding

Monthly in summer. Reduce feeding if you don't want your Ficus to grow too big too quickly.

Re-potting

Every 1-2 years in spring. Or when the roots start to grow through the bottom of the grow pot. Fast-draining potting soil will do.

Atrium Top Tip

Rotate your Ficus regularly so that it doesn't grow lopsided as it reaches for the sun.

The Fiddle Leaf Fig got its name from its violin shaped leaves. In its natural habitat it can grow 15m tall! Due to the large size of its leaves it's an extremely efficient air-purifying plant.
