Queen of hearts

Isn't Phoebe cute? With her tussled emerald green locks she sure turns heads. Also known as the 'sweetheart' plant, the Heart Leaf Philodendron is great for hanging or climbing if trained up a trellis or stake. Phoebe's pretty easy going too!

Comes in a 20cm hanging grow pot. Hook can be unclipped. Decorative pots and plant hangers sold separately.

As sweet as she looks, Phoebe can be harmful to animals & small children if ingested in large quantities.

Caring for Phoebe

Light

Phoebe can adapt to most light situations except direct sunlight. If she's in too dark a spot her leaves will loose their vibrant colour and she'll develop leggy stems with fewer leaves.

Water & humidity

Originating from the Caribbean, Phoebe loves moist tropical conditions best, but adapts well to normal household conditions. Water 1-2 times a week in summer to keep the soil slightly moist, allowing the top layer to dry out before watering again. In winter allow the top 3cm of soil to dry between waterings. You can spritz the leaves with water to raise humidity.

Feeding

Phoebe is a fast grower and should be fed monthly with 1-2 sachets of organic fertiliser. Don't feed in winter.

Re-potting

When her roots start pushing above the pot or pushing through the drainage holes, or the leaves keep dropping/yellowing it's time to consider re-potting. She likes well draining potting soil mixed with a handful of succulent mix. You can also add some of our Hemp Super Soil.

Atrium Top Tip

Yellow looking leaves could indicate over-watering. Brown leaves signal under-watering. Phoebe is easy to propagate (make babies). Just cut off a strong looking stem and pop into water. A rooting hormone can increase chances of success, but is not usually necessary.
