Draco belongs to the Dragon Plant family (Draceana), and hails all the way from Guinea in West Africa. With bold lime stripes on his elongated leaves he's a handsome chap, looking good year round. And you really don't have to fuss over him at all. He's also an air-purifying machine. Available Gauteng only.

About Plant

Caring for Draco

Light

Adaptable to bright and low light situations. Also happy in brighter light, as long as its not direct.

Water & humidity

Dragon Plants do not need frequent watering and prefer their soil to dry out. Water every 10 days to 2 weeks. Allow the top 50-75% of the soil to dry out before watering again. In winter, you may even need to drop your watering schedule to every three weeks.

Feeding

Feed every 1-2 months in summer with 1 sachet of organic Canola Meal

Re-potting

Only re-pot once every 1-2 years if necessary to one size up. They like to be root bound. Regular potting soil mixed with some cactus/succulent mix will work best.

Atrium Top Tip

Draco is a NASA approved Clean Air Plant. Wiping both the upper surfaces and undersides of the leaves with a damp cloth allows the plant to exchange air freely.

Quirky plant fact

Some Dragon Tree varieties can grow 100 feet tall in the wild, and are commonly found in dry, hot climates across Africa and South America.
